A material on construction that
impedes the transmission of water vapor.á
When installed correctly, the
vapor barrier will provide an effective and economical method to prevent
water, or moisture, from
entering a structure through the slab on grade or roof system.á Excessive moisture will damage moisture-impermeable floor finishes, wood
floors, cause breakdowns to adhesives, cause fungi and offensive odors.
No two vapor barriers are created
equal.á Products made from high-grade,
virgin, raw materials will provide
reliable long-term protection, unlike construction grade plastic or visqueen
products that are produced from
low-grade resins and recycled products that historically have proven to be
ineffective with poor quality, high
permeation rates and rapid decay.
